About this deal

Also in the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Rowle's role in the Battle of the Astronomy Tower is handed over to Bellatrix Lestrange, during which she burns down Hagrid's hut instead of Rowle, as he does in the book. In their fifth year, they were given a lot of homework during their Astronomy classes. They had to study Jupiter’s moons which included Io and Callisto. They were said to be discovered by Galileo Galilei. Io, Callisto, Ganymede, and Europa are four of the moons of Jupiter that are known as Galilean moons in the muggle world. They are named after the four lovers of Zeus, who is the leader of the pantheon of gods in Greek Mythology. They had to study these moons in detail, including writing an essay containing facts like Europa being covered in ice, which Harry accidentally wrote as mice, and Io containing a lot of volcanoes. According to Rufus Scrimgeour (and Hermione Granger) in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Chapter 7 ( The Will of Albus Dumbledore), the Ministry has the right to maintain possession of Dumbledore's bequests for thirty-one days only, in accordance with the Decree for Justifiable Confiscation. Dumbledore's bequests were delivered to Ron, Hermione and Harry on 31 July 1997: Harry Potter's seventeenth birthday. As it is referred in that chapter that the "thirty-one days are up", Dumbledore died exactly thirty-one days earlier, in the evening of 30 June, assuming that those thirty-one days started when Dumbledore died. I know that you have learned the names of the planets and their moons in Astronomy," said Firenze's calm voice, "and that you have mapped the stars' progress through the heavens...." ( OP27)

From the Earth’s point of view, the heavens appear as a large globe surrounding us – the celestial sphere – with the stars “painted” on its inside surface. Astronomers delineate coordinate lines of right ascension and declination on this sphere, in much the same way that the terrestrial globe is mapped by lines of longitude and latitude. If a telescope is equipped with certain dials (setting circles), it can be used to accurately determine the celestial coordinates of the object at which it points. Perhaps this is the use to which the students are putting their telescopes here. The [O.W.L.] Astronomy theory exam on Wednesday morning went well enough; Harry was not convinced he had got the names of all of Jupiter's moons right, but was at least confident that none of them was inhabited by mice. They had to wait until evening for their practical Astronomy.... ( OP31)Ernie Macmillan might have participated, since in the book he talked with Harry during the battle, but this is unconfirmed. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Chapter 4 ( At Flourish and Blotts) - It is said that both Percy and Bill Weasley earned twelve Ordinary Wizarding Levels, meaning they must have earned an O.W.L. in this subject. Harry] had quite forgotten Venus’s position – jamming his eye to his telescope, he found it again and was again on the point of entering it on his chart… ( OP31) Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, Year 6, Chapter 33 ( Imitation Game) - Astronomy Lesson "Cosmic Ages"

Details

The identity of the two Death Eaters who duelled Ron Weasley and Remus Lupin is not known, though one of them is most likely Travers as he was known to have escaped Azkaban shortly after, despite having already escaped the previous year. Since he was featured on old wanted posters, it's likely that he was imprisoned in Azkaban following Voldemort's first defeat. If so this is ironic as his possible ancestor Damocles Rowle was the one to establish Azkaban as a prison.

Albus Dumbledore: " If I tell you to leave me and save yourself, you will do as I tell you?" Harry Potter: " I —" Albus Dumbledore: " Harry?" Harry Potter: " Yes, Sir." Albus Dumbledore: " Very good. Then I wish you to go and fetch your Cloak and meet me in the Entrance Hall in five minutes’ time." — Albus makes a request of Harry [src] Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, Year 7, Chapter 28 ( The Last Laugh) - Astronomy Lesson "Dark Matter and Dark Energy"Charms: Rowle set Hagrid's hut on fire during the Battle of the Astronomy Tower by use of the Fire-Making Spell. The spell was powerful, as it was enough to set the whole hut ablaze and caused an "explosive bang". [2] He was also able to cast the Silencing Charm in 1998 during the Battle of Hogwarts on Hagrid with success despite the latter being a half-giant. [3]

On the ground to third floors, the tower contained various passages to other parts of the castle. [2] On the fourth floor, it accommodated a spacious hallway that connected to the Magical Theory classroom and a bathroom. The classroom was adjacent to the Magical Theory professor's office. [2] The fifth floor contained a corridor and a reading room, as well as the Astronomy professor's living quarters. [2] Further up were the Astronomy Room and the battlements of the tower. [3] [4] History [ ] 19th century [ ] In the book of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Rowle is the Death Eater to shout at Hagrid, however, in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, an unidentified male Death Eater does, possibly because Rowle's character is not as big as in the books—which is strange, considering Rowle has been in the films before and this character randomly showed up for this scene. Dumbledore then revealed that he secretly knew all along of Draco's mission, along with the failed attempts on his life, having been constantly updated all year in secret by Professor Snape; although Draco claimed that Snape was a double agent and that he was one of Voldemort's highest-ranking servants. Dumbledore merely told Draco that it was natural that Snape would tell him that; and claimed that he still allowed Draco to remain at Hogwarts to protect him from Voldemort, then proceeded to offer Draco the chance to change sides, and promised to hide Draco and his family where Voldemort would never find them. As a result of Lucius Malfoy's failure to obtain the prophecy during The Battle of The Ministry of Magic in June of 1996, Lord Voldemort, furious at Lucius's failure and the fact that some of his top Death Eaters had been re-entombed in Azkaban, decided that Lucius's son, Draco Malfoy, should become a Death Eater, and that he should carry out the mission of killing Dumbledore, rather than Voldemort himself; due to Dumbledore having easily rivalled and surpassed the Dark Lord in power during their duel at the Ministry Of Magic the year prior. [6] Astronomy classes took place in the highest level of the Astronomy Tower, the tallest tower in Hogwarts Castle, and included sky observation sessions with telescopes [3] (each student has to buy one of his/her own). [8] Lesson times [ ] YearThese star charts are mentioned a few times in the books (see also OP26, OP31), although it is not made entirely clear what the objective of this assignment is. Perhaps the students sketch stars and constellations that they see in the sky during one of their midnight observing sessions, and then have to complete these charts later on by identifying these objects in a reference book and labeling them? In Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, it is stated that students are only allowed to enter the tower during Astronomy lessons. However, in the video game adaptation of Half-Blood Prince, Harry can freely enter it. It is possible that the rule applies to first years but not to sixth years. From the fact that it is common knowledge among wizards that Europa is icy and Io has volcanoes, it seems that, despite the separation of wizarding and Muggle cultures (and the wizarding ignorance of other scientific concepts such as electricity), Muggle science is well-known to wizard astronomers. Just how far wizarding knowledge of modern astronomy goes, though, is unknown. However, it is quite possible that the wizarding world has other means of conducting these studies without the use of Muggle technology since Professor Trelawney possessed a globe of the solar system that accurately depicts all the planets (including Pluto) and their moons. Furthermore, Harry Potter found a moving globe of the galaxy in Diagon Alley when he was staying at the Leaky Cauldron during the summer before his third year. This far surpasses the current state of Muggle knowledge, let alone what it was in the early 1990s.
