About this deal

The Commotion in the Ocean book is a collection of short and fun poems about the animals in and around the sea. The rhythmic rhymes and upbeat illustrations keep even the youngest readers interested. Kids will learn about crabs, turtles, dolphins, angel fish, jelly fish, sharks, swordfish and more! The Activity We didn’t do this one, but I love this Don’t Soak the Shark game from Toddler Approved. It’s great for practicing letter matching. This leads into the short's only new sequence. Moe and Larry attempt to steal a female passenger's fish dinner; but end up attempting to eat a taxidermy fish; with disastrous results. Kids will definitely love personalizing their beach scenes. You can use air-dry clay or salt dough to create the sand side of your ocean scene.

Get ready to learn all about the wonderful creatures of the ocean with our fun and engaging Matching Cards and Board Game. It’ll help your teaching alongside the brilliant book, Commotion in the Ocean, by Giles Andreae. Once you've finished reading the book, take a deep dive into learning with Commotion in the Ocean activities. Tasks like story-sequencing activities will help children to ride the wave of engagement. Books can provide brilliant motivation for lessons, helping children to learn - even in subjects they may usually find challenging. I think that the book is a really good way to introduce creatures and animals that live in the sea to the children in a way they would understand and remember. The narrators of the story are both authors Giles and David. They tell the story from their point of view and of what they think of the creatures. You will find easy-to-print and use maths puzzles, word cards, colouring sheets and role-play resources - take a look. Lesson ideas to support the teaching of Commotion in the Ocean Starfish, more properly known as “sea stars,” come in a wide variety of sizes and designs. Have kids sculpt their own from salt dough or Play-Doh.

Learn the zones of the ocean with these clever bottles. Simply use food coloring to dye the water deeper shades of blue to represent the amount of sunlight that reaches each zone, then add a representative sea animal toy.Plot: This plot is chronological in taking readers on a journey from the sandy beach to the bottom of the ocean, exploring all of the animals and creatures in between.

We filled up enough water balloons for each child to have three balloons. With a permanent marker, we wrote the name of each child on each balloon (you want each child to have three). We used a shepherd hook as the sword of our swordfish. Each child had to find the balloons with their names on them. This is great practice for name recognition. They then took turns throwing the balloons at the swordfish trying to pop their balloons. The characters in this book are all animals and fish. It tells about crab, turtles, dolphins, angel fish, jellyfish, shark, swordfish, octopus, stingray, lobster, whale, walrus, penguins, and polar bears.A layer of oil floating on the water helps make wave action more obvious. You can do ocean activities like this one in person or as an online demo.

This week we will be using the story 'Commotion in the Ocean'. If you do not have a copy at home then I have attached a PowerPoint and PDF copy below, along with a YouTube video of the book being read. The characters in the book are all of the animals that live in the ocean that are described in the book. It describes many of them. Like the shark, it eats other fish. The stingray will sting other creatures with the stinger on its tail. Also the blue whale, the biggest beast on the planet. Again, each of these worksheets is supported by an interactive Smart board 10 notebook file to aid teaching and provide extra practice for pupils. We took a container of wet sand and buried plastic Easter eggs in the sand. The kids used their hands and digging tools to find the turtle eggs. 8. Dolphin Talking Pool Commotion in the Ocean is a handy springboard for developing all kinds of skills across the curriculum.
