About this deal

So overall this book for me didn't sugar coat nothing and yet ONCE & THEN now have so many important meanings that everyone should read these. I finished this in the car ride home from a family reunion with mom and my grandparents (it was an hour or so away) and now I'm wishing i brought book 3 with me. And speaking of "now" which happens to be the title for the next book, NOW I'll be ready to jump in it when I get a chance to! Bruce Lee's Daughter Says She Doesn't Know What Quentin Tarantino's "Issues Are" With Her Father: "He Has Borrowed From Him Quite A Bit" The Gilded Age’ Cast: Meet The New Season 2 Cast Members, From Robert Sean Leonard, to Christopher Denham, And More Listen, Dumbo,’ said Angus. ‘There’s no girl, right? I’m not going to meet a girl. I’m not going to kiss a girl. Watch my lips. NO... GIRL...’

Stream It Or Skip It: ‘When Evil Lurks’ on Shudder, an Innovative Demonic-Possession Horror That Just Might Be The Scariest Movie of 2023Leo,’ he muttered, crouching, ‘how would you like it if spiders went round yelling when you did a poo?’ Morris Gleitzman is a bestselling Australian children’s author. His books explore serious and sometimes confronting subjects in humourous and unexpected ways. His titles include Two Weeks With The Queen, Grace, Doubting Thomas, Bumface, Give Peas A Chance, Extra Time, Loyal Creatures, Digging Up Dad and the series Once, Then, After, Soon, Maybe, Now and Always. Morris lives in Sydney and Brisbane, and his books are published in more than twenty countries. Long Biography Angus felt his mouth go dry and his heart speed up. For a second he thought about lying. He decided not to. It is in the best interests of all people that we stand against the hatred and fear of any group of people based upon their ethnic, religious, or racial identity. As educators of young people, we do this in a positive manner through the promotion of multiculturalism. Children grow up more accepting and less likely to wage war upon one another when they come to recognize that children who look, speak, and live in cultures different than their own are still like them and not people to be hated and feared.

Once has an uncertain ending - Felix has escaped from the train which was no doubt leading to a terrible fate, but it is not clear what will happen to him next. Nonetheless, it is an uplifting ending as Felix determines to appreciate the positive experiences and inspiring people he has encountered during his short life. This is typical of Gleitzman’s endings - the novels usually finish on an upbeat, positive note, but it is never a naïve happy ending in which everything has smoothly resolved itself. The optimism comes not from altered situations, but from the way in which child characters have learned to cope and develop resilience. Felix chooses to count his blessings in the midst of terrible suffering, Colin cements his relationship with his dying brother and Keith learns to accept and love his newly-divorced parents. Nikki Gamble believes that Gleitzman shows his readers the importance of finding inner strength and self-approval, particularly for characters such as Angus and Pearl whose parents do not redeem themselves: ‘… both Angus and Pearl have consciously decided that a positive self-image is not dependent on their parents’ opinion of them and this may be the most empowering if subversive message for a child reader’ ( Family Fictions, 2001).
