About this deal

Everyone is the cast is great, but particular praise has to go to Paddy Considine who plays King Viserys Targaryen. Anyone who watched the original series will be used to some pretty lousy or downright evil kings and queens ruling over Westeros, but Viserys is different in how he is a kind and competent king who feels the weight of the crown every day and tries to balance his duty to the realm with his family. House Of The Dragon, the highly anticipated Game of Thrones prequel series, is coming to Sky (and its streaming service NOW) in the UK – and will be available in Ultra HD (4K) / HDR, as Sky confirmed to us.

House of the Dragon on 4k Blu-ray Excels In Sharpness Review: House of the Dragon on 4k Blu-ray Excels In Sharpness

House of the Dragon episodes are dark though. Such has been the commonplace of many darker dramas. You might consider brightening your screen if the imagery is too obscure. We tested in cinema mode on two different TV screens, and both were on the dark side even in daylight scenes. Unfortunately for NOW viewers, House of the Dragon won't be available to watch in 4K as the Sky streaming service does not support this format. Each edition has all 10 episodes of the HBO series’ first season, along with more than an hour of bonus features, plus two more all-new featurettes. The 4K Ultra HD or Blu-ray versions will also entitle buyers to a digital copy, but only in the U.S. While House of the Dragon is available to stream on HBO Max in 4K with Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos sound, a 4K Blu-ray copy will still provide the highest-quality audio and video possible for home viewing. Instead, only the on-demand, broadband-based version of House Of The Dragonwill be available in UHD (4K) / HDR, on compatible devices, sometime after the live broadcast. There are extras on discs one and two, some of which were already available on HBO Max. But the bonus material should have included deleted scenes and probably should have inserted all the trailing “Inside the Episode” minidocs available with HBO. Regardless, this season is a must-own on 4k Blu-ray Disc. This is presumably because a live 4K broadcast would consume too much bandwidth, with an on-demand streaming version being easier for Sky to push to your device. But the episodes are not all 5/5 in video quality. There is very flat and grainy imagery starting at around 26 minutes in Alicent Hightowers bedroom. Likewise, the whole scene when Daemon takes Rhaenyra to a brothel looks even worse than Alicent’s bedroom. Rhaenyra petitions for Lucerys alongside the noble Jacaerys and stoic husband Daemon – Courtesy HBO Audio The series tells the story of House Targaryen, and chronicles the conquest that united the Seven Kingdoms under Targaryen rule through the Dance of the Dragons: the Targaryen civil, war that nearly ended their dynasty forever HBO’s House of the Dragon is based on the book “Fire & Blood” by George R. R. Martin and premiered on HBO and HBO Max on August 21st, 2022. The prequel to Game of Thrones, HOTD is set 200 years earlier (172 years before Daenerys Targaryen is born) and focuses on House Velaryon, House Hightower, and the main events that lead toward the fall of House Targaryen. The show was written by Ryan J. Condal and George R.R. Martin. One of the major benefits that HDR offers over standard dynamic range is a wider color gamut, which greatly reduces an issue known as banding, in which smooth gradations of color get broken up into distinct, well, bands. And indeed, I noticed much less banding (and much less pixelation) when I watched “The Long Night” in 4K Dolby Vision. I still felt like I needed to keep the room dark to give myself the best chance at seeing everything, but in this case, I could finally make out the action, unimpeded by video compression issues. But where the imagery is dark it makes up for it in sharpness and richness of detail. Closeups are immaculate and the dynamic range is impressive in most scenes. The dragon effects work has really come a long way since GOT S1, so much so that we may take for granted that dragons are pure fantasy. This year Foxtel has doubled the amount of live hours in 4K Ultra HD available across sport – increasing to more than 200 hours – making it the largest broadcaster of 4K Ultra HD content in Australia, and now the home of one of the most popular entertainment franchises in 4K Ultra HD – House of the Dragon.Game of Thrones fans had many problems with the show’s final season, and one of their most vehement criticisms involved a technical issue rather than a concern about plot: Viewers complained that they couldn’t see the action unfolding during the Battle of Winterfell because the episode was just “too dark.” Now, more than three years after the episode aired, HBO is offering a new way to stream the show that may help. Furthermore, it will not be available in 4K for NOW customers, as the service doesn’t support Ultra HD at all. HBO’s House of the Dragon is one of the best-looking and sounding shows of 2022, offering video resolution up to 4k (2160) with Dolby Vision HDR and audio in Dolby Atmos/TrueHD. The first season released on 4k Blu-ray, Blu-ray, and DVD on Dec. 20, 2022, including a Limited Edition 4k SteelBook. The 4k Blu-ray combo editions from Warner Home Video/Studio Distribution Services include a total of eight discs (four 4k Blu-rays and four 1080p Blu-rays) along with a code to redeem Digital Copies. House of The Dragonis based on George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Bloodbook, and isset 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones.
