About this deal

There were moments in this book where the intimate moments in between characters made me want to cry for help and someone to pass a scoop of common sense. Please, someone send a good few moments of mental clarity! But life isn’t pretty… we take what we want. I do hope they are able to move on in life and put this completely behind them. But will that ever really happen. It will always be on (authors) mind.

The other thing that left me at sixes and sevens was the history between Logan and Sophie as they weren't given a solid establishment. It feels like there was a piece in their story that was missing as I do not know what's their real deal or how it supposed to serve the present timeframe. What more when you consider that Logan is such an unreliable narrator. This may be intentional though but it also made the story a bit disjointed. The drama between these two couples: Carly and Rob, and Jenni and Craig, is absolutely ridiculous. I understand that Carly has been made to have depression and paranoia, but I'm curious as to why Jenni was never diagnosed with anything. These women were pretty ruthless towards one another, and their husbands were complete idiots. I pretty much hated every single character in this book, with the exception of the children. They didn't do anything. Once again, only the children are innocent in a book like this. To say that this is one F’d up story would be an understatement. Carly becomes unhinged, and in true Robson fashion...twists start to occur, and you really don’t know who is bad and who is good. King takes a generally harmless trait – being a bookworm – and makes it bloodcurdling. Annie Wilkes imprisons and tortures an author, hoping to create a better end for her favourite heroine. There’s a slyness to King’s portrait of Annie; most of us have obsessed over a beloved character, and authors wield a special power over our emotional lives. At the same time, readers’ expectations hold sway over authors – King was partially inspired to write Misery by his fans’ vocal outcry when he attempted a genre other than horror.she had a sign in cursive that said Good Vibes Only- which, okay, kind of basic, but I supposed no one was perfect- I really think those who are fans of the book "You" would like this. It is that type of book. Stalker and stalkee do sort of have some type of relationship but I will say no more. I had a ball with Jesse Q. Sutanto’s Dial A for Aunties so when I saw Obsession marketed as a “ You for Young Adults” I was all over it. I mean, if you don’t love Joe you just don’t know what you’re missing. John Banville’s Athena revolves around Morrow, an art expert with a shadowy past, and his love affair with a young woman inextricably linked to the paintings he is examining.

I think it was good but it did not capture me , I'm finding review hard to write cause I'm not honestly sure what to think ... had a good ending but the rest of it was like love triangles I can't find the words lolThis is a fast-paced story with two very compelling and equally scary narrators. There were some twists I was expecting and some twists I wasn't, which kept guessing fun. I had to suspend my disbelief a lot, though. I don't think this is intended to be super realistic. Think of those Point Horror thriller novels from the 90s, and you'll have an idea of the tone of this book. Even the title is reminiscent of those early Scholastic pulps. It just needs to be written in dripping red letters!

I thought this was a great debut and a fantastic young adult contemporary fiction set in an exclusive private school in Silicon Valley. Remember when I said that this book almost squeezed a tear out of me? Well it was because of that ending. Fast forward and Naomi has never been able to truly settle and hides who she is and the atrocities her father committed still continue to haunt her. Yet for some reason a dilapidated house that's truly a money pit calls to her artistic nature. It's a huge decision for this nomad but one she hopes will work out. Quiet town , no close neighbours and best of all her true identity is unknown. Naomi initially trusts and befriends her contractor and then of course there's his wife. It would look odd not to engage with locals and the last thing Naomi wants is to inspire curiosity . Then of course there's the mighty fine mechanic / musician Xander. Dreamy , yes but not on Naomi's list of projects to do but that guy certainly is persistent ! Somehow Naomi parts company with her quiet life with even a dog in the house! Then things start going pear shaped as young women turn up dead and somehow it all seems scarily familiar ! All stalking is obsessive and entitled but the motivations and behaviour behind stalking can be very different. Madigan provides statistics and anecdotal examples to support her investigation. She discusses the five types of stalker: The Rejected Stalker (often after the breakdown of a relationship); The Intimacy Seeker (who longs for a relationship; this is entangled with erotomania – the delusional belief that another person, usually of a higher social status, is in love with them ie the celebrity stalker); The Resentful Stalker (seeking revenge or retribution); The Incompetent Suitor (seeking short-term gratification spawned by loneliness or lust); and finally The Predator (less common but a more serious risk – the deadly and chilling attention of a stranger). She deconstructs how all of these perpetrators impact or restrict someone’s life in so many ways.Nicole interviews psychologists, police, lawyers and other experts who confirm that trolls will do this for years - especially when they have unfulfilled, empty lives where they are unemployed or underemployed and are free to craft their entire lives as disembodied avatars with no sense or responsibility and a massive axe to grind. Xander!! OMG, what was not to like? Tall, handsome, rides a motorbike, he sings in a band ... and sings cover versions of SPRINGSTEEN!!!!!! How perfect. He could serenade me all night long as he strummed his guitar, while I strummed .... OK, getting a bit carried away there. Nicole uses her own story as an entry point to examine the psychology behind stalking behaviours and their impact on victim-survivors. Whether by a stranger, acquaintance or former partner, stalking can have a devastating effect on a victim-survivor's mental, social and financial wellbeing. At its worst, it can lead to physical violence, even death. I think one reason for that is that it is not your typical stalker book. Logan is indeed obsessed with Dee but there are so many other dynamics at play in this book. I read it in one sitting. Jenny's doe eyes and cherry lips are repeatedly referred to, as is Carly's voluptuous figure and Marilyn-like blonde hair. Short skirts are "pussy pelmets" and the women in the book seem very clearly divided into "good" and "bad". The men are there to be adored, and the women are there to wait on the men and stroke their ego's.

The research was very detailed and the telling of other victims accounts of crime against them was really insightful.A gripping blend of memoir, investigation and expert analysis, Obsession takes a deep dive into the disturbing phenomenon of stalking. Carly Burton is a loving nurse, wife and mother. After one evening when Carly asks her husband Rob who else would you go for, if you could. When he answers Jenni this simple little game destroys Carly's life.
