He has co-authored three books on the James Bond phenomenon and he wrote and directed the documentary, Ian Fleming: 007’s Creator. I was pleased to see how the books evolved and understand why Ian Fleming regretted "the spy who loved me" and asked to make a fully original story for the film.

I did enjoy my first read of the first James Bond Book. Wasn't what I expected, but I think it has stood the test of time well. I found it interesting that there is no description of Bond! He's a white man with dark hair. No age, or other description. I wonder what I'll learn from the rest of the books, which I have lined up to read next. Determined to uncover the truth, James Bond enters a world of fast cars, grand casinos and luxury yachts. But beneath the glamour, he soon encounters a dangerous network of organised crime. I really enjoyed the plot of this book, even tho the plot is completly different from the film (which I enjoyed). I think the books show a more human Bond - who doesn't always get the girl, and infact gets hurt rather a lot (physically like). This book is also interesting as it is set entirely in England.

Another enjoyable Bond outing. I was quite sad to read about poor Quarrel tho. When reading Bond, you really get the impression that Mr Fleming has done lots of research and knows what he is writing about. of YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE, featured a simple stylized illustration of Paul Bacon's artwork of Dr. Shatterhand in The design for Goldfinger showcases the novel’s famous golf scene with the unmistakable shadow of Oddjob watching Bond’s every move. The plummeting stratocruiser adds texture and danger to the design and is melded together with all the other elements to form the silhouette of Goldfinger with his sinister and impenetrable gaze. Ian Lancaster Fleming was a British author, journalist, and commander in the royal Navy during the Second World War. He was a grandson of the Scottish financier Robert Fleming, who founded the Scottish American Investment Trust and the merchant bank Robert Fleming & Co. I really loved reading these books. So different to what I was expecting. I'm keeping them in my perminant collection.What is Ironic because he was seen as very progressive and praised by his support of the sexual revolution.
