About this deal

As you can see, the right bottom side is just a tad more pink compared to the left side, which is a common issue with many BenQ monitors. Although it is not as bad as on the SW320 I reviewed previously, it is still definitely there. Overall brightness uniformity is also a problem and you can see a bright hotspot in the middle, which is quite common to see on most monitors of this level. The resolution of 3840x2160‎ provides plenty of working space, while text is comfortable to read with Windows font set to 125%, although you may want to increase the font size further.Paper Color Sync is a neat idea, and only available on the SW271C and its bigger sibling, the SW321C. It’s sort of like hardware calibration for soft proofing your prints: using a companion app, you can select your photo’s color gamut, your printer, and your photo paper, and Paper Color Sync will adjust the colors of the display at the monitor level so that you get the most accurate on-screen preview of the final printed image while you edit. As far as 27-inch professional photo monitors are concerned, the BenQ SW271 still has excellent affordability on its side, but more significantly it has a 4K resolution display, a more flexible set of inputs and some additional operating conveniences to assist with workflow efficiencies. My wife and I are starting our photography business in Australia and we wanted to get an photography-grade monitor to help us proof/edit our images that will eventually be printed. When using the DisplayPort or latest HDMI cable, simultaneous 10-bit colour display is possible, via a 14bit look-up table, which means the display is capable of displaying more than one billion colours at once. I would even say the same for true 10bit end to end communication (Photoshop 10bit and that stuff)… a dithered 8bit communication ( or 10bit comunication dithered to 8bit in some step) should be visually equivalent: Lightroom, CaptureOne and ACR, all use dithered outputs, all render “10bit test ramp” smooth. You just need to ensure that your calibration caused no banding (realiable HW cal or good GPU)

Update: It seems like all the issues are related to the MacOS version of Palette Master Element. After trying out the same display on my Windows PC, I was able to successfully calibrate the screen in Panel Native gamut without any issues! The white point was also being saved properly on the PC, but not on the MacOS version. If you are a Mac user, my recommendation would be to find a PC to do the initial hardware calibration. After that, connect to your Mac and perform software calibration using DisplayCAL for the best accuracy. Unfortunately, until BenQ fixes the MacOS version of the software, this is the only workaround I can think of. Where to Buy It's possible to save the results of performance as an HTML document so that you have a record of how the monitor is performing, which could be particularly important for colour critical work or to show that your computer and monitor is set up correctly. The SW271 is supplied with modular shade which is invaluable when working in brighter situations. (Image credit: BenQ)A cable tidy is included on the rear of the stand for keeping everything neat once it’s set up how you like. There's also a handle at the top, making it easier to lift the monitor if needed. With the release of the new-and-improved PhotoVue SW271C, BenQ is once again hoping to win over photographers with impressive color accuracy and targeted photo editing features at a reasonable price. But unlike the original SW271, the SW271C is entering a much more competitive marketplace, at a price that isn’t quite so “reasonable” anymore. I ask because I’ve decided to upgrade from a 2014 27″ iMac to a 2018 mac mini and a 27″ monitor suitable for photo editing. I’ve narrowed the choice to the BenQ SW271 or NEC PA 271Q. My key criteria are suitability for advanced photo editing – color accuracy and screen image resolution. Get the latest photography news straight to your inbox by signing up to our newsletter. The lower this number, the better.
