About this deal

First 4 Figures is extremely proud to present Samus Aran's Zero Suit, the third collectible statues in First 4 Figures highly anticipated suit series based on Retro Studios Metroid Prime game trilogy. This version is based on the Zero Suit seen at the end of Metroid Prime 2 Echoes. The base is a very good design with the Metroid logo, but 2 of mine came with pretty poor paintwork on the big silver "S" in the middle, there is a white scuffy looking haze all over it, almost looks like paint fade, hard to describe but definitely hurts the aesthetics when you look closely. It isn’t what I’d typically associate with deep, metallic/reflective paint – and while that’s exactly what I’d expect out of Samus’ armor, whatever Max Factory/Good Smile did here still looks perfect in this application. The red on her helmet and chest actually skirt closer to candy red. From the Nintendo Switch game "METROID DREAD" comes a figma action figure of the main character, Samus Aran!

The type of people the memorize every flaw in the game, ready at a moment's notice to spew it all out. People that could make Mother Teresa look like OJ Simpsom. Once they lasered in on Other M, it never stood a chance. The first 2 units I received had stress fractures throughout the paint on the left half of the chest plate. I've spoken to a number of other owners who also have had this issue, sometimes there are similar fractures in the paint on the cannon, although only one of my samples had this too. Metroid: Other M is surely one of the most divisive entries in the long-running sci-fi series, with fans loving and loathing its representation of Samus Aran in equal measure.

GOOD SMILE COMPANY

Modelled on Samus' appearance in MecurySteam's Metroid Dread, the figure is highly posable and comes with all of the added customisation options that we have come to expect from Good Smile's releases. From "METROID DREAD" comes figma Samus Aran: DREAD ver.! Featuring double-jointed knee joints, Morph Ball parts and more, this is a figma Metroid fans won't want to miss! The proportions, the colors, the way everything moves – right out of the box this Figma exudes motion. It looks dynamic, which is especially ironic given that the Prime versions of the armor are probably known to be some of the least dynamic/acrobatic in the series (this is compared to the ninja stunts and close-quarters roundhouses Samus pulled in her Other M suit). An alternate head part with short hair is also included, allowing you to display the younger Samus.

The statue is heavy and extremely well made. I give massive props to the QC team on this one. The statue looks amazing as is, but with the added electronics on the EX version, it really takes it to the next level. The way they've designed the base to transmit power to the DC connector on the foot, then through the statue and once again to another DC power connector on the right arm, where the cannon slips into place, is really clever! The beam effects that came with the Other M version had game-accurate long pink pellets ( I painted mine though, which is why they’re transparent blue and magenta here) – which were true to that version’s armor alone, not this one. With its sleek design and resistance to the elements of Dark Aether, the Light Suit was one of the most powerful and important tools at Samus’ disposal as she set out on a mission to destroy the Dark Dimension. The suit was powered by the Light of Aether and was the result of both Luminoth and Chozo technology. Ahem, okay, I’ve sung this thing’s praises for long enough. Onto the not-so-great now. For starters, this Figma looks great, poses great, and did I mention how great it looks? But that doesn’t quite hold up in terms of physical feel. During her travels throughout the galaxy, Samus Aran can find and equip different suits of armour to protect her against the hostile world around her, and to grant herself numerous different abilities. Of these suits, none of these are more recognisable than the iconic Varia Suit. The Varia suit reduces the damage that Samus takes by up to half, is highly resistant to hot environments and completely nullifies the effects of acid, allowing her to walk through it without injury. Adam treating her as a child or a liability (despite having a better record than Adam) no wonder she left him before and freelanced, and now he's a jelly little pr***.

Don't put Adam on a pedestal, just for a ridiculous sacrifice that didn't need to be. So he killed the experimented Metroids made by Feds, well a lot that did when there's a bloody Metroid Queen else where. A flexible plastic is used for important areas, allowing proportions to be kept without compromising posability. And, of course, I am still waiting for them to make one of Krystal from Star Fox; specifically, one in her outfit from Assault. While a lot of depictions have her in her tribal outfit from Adventures, I much prefer her outfit from Assault. But I'll take either. Whatever your outlook on the controversial Wii title, Figma's latest Nintendo-themed offering should be of interest. Zero Suit Samus is fully poseable and comes with interchangeable components and accessories, including a "thumbs up" hand:

GOOD SMILE RACING

I very strongly considered panel-lining all the details the way I did with my Other M Figma, but ultimately decided to leave it untarnished for now. I’m afraid of the panel lining being too stark and changing the look too much, since I like it so much as it is. You get an optional missile-firing arm cannon tip, three extra left hands, a morph ball…and the standard Figma stand. That’s it. Maybe Samus’ base body was just that much more expensive to produce, but it’s still a tough pill to swallow when TP Link gave us an entire armory. The white of Samus' armour has a lovely gloss and shine to it and just radiates quality workmanship (most pieces from other statue makers look dull, dusty and matte). Original article [Sun 15th Oct, 2023 15:00 BST]: First 4 Figures recently shared a "sneak peek" of its absolutely stunning Metroid Prime 'Samus Varia Suit' PVC statue. Some very cool bits of extra ingenuity that allow for more movement include articulated flaps at the hips and stomach armor that retracts in to allow for a significant degree of torso bending.

This is the exclusive version of the Varia Suit. LEDs have been integrated throughout the entire statue, bringing it to life exactly as seen in the games. Don't label me feminist. You have no right. Especially since the authorization isn't even the half of it. Seriously, Samus seeing Adam as a farther figure? Why? Hah. No. What’s most interesting is that the instructions for this Figma make no mention of this feature, and it’s really just left up to intuition for those who’ve owned the previous Figma Samus. This arm cannon was designed to be modular with the old beam effects, and that’s all well and good for us who already own the previous Figma (kind of) but it ends up being nothing but a design compromise and missed play value to those who don’t.This 'Samus Varia Suit' is an 11" painted statue and is once again "coming soon". First 4 Figures has previously released a number of Metroid-themed products, including a "life size" Samus helmet. You can see this item in the gallery below: All the details feel and look crisp – the armor as a whole looks chiseled, and it looks like almost no compromises were made to take the in-game model and transform it into a physical Figma with joints and movement range. Now, I’ve been mentioning the Other M Figma throughout this write up quite a bit, so I think it’s only fair we really get to see them properly compared.
