About this deal

BE PROTECTED: The waterproof GORE-TEX membrane keeps feet dry, while the durable – yet still flexible – ripstop upper material repels any dirt. It seems odd to me that a hiking boot is water-resistant and not waterproof, but then I do live in Scotland where we have a lot of wet terrain and rain.

Hiking in the ROCFLY G 390 in some ways felt luxurious. I’m not sure I’ve ever worn a hiking shoe -- trail runner or boot -- that was at once bouncy, flexible, supportive, and grippy. (And all at a relatively light weight, too!) The way the midsole and the outsole work together make for a really distinct ride that makes you want to just keep walking and walking. Amongst its many testers has been inov-8 ambassador James Forrest, who recently used the ROCFLY™ G 390 boots to set a new record time for a solo and self-supported hike of Great Britain’s National Three Peaks. James Forrest, scaled the highest mountains in Scotland (Ben Nevis), England (Scafell Pike) and Wales (Snowdon) – plus all the miles in between them –on a 500-mile adventure that took him just 16 days, 15 hours and 39 minutes. Delivery timescales are based on working days; Public Holidays, Saturday's and Sunday's are NOT classed as working days. The laces are a good length, nice to use and strong. They adjust the boots to fit the foot well with the laces running through holes with one pair of hooks at the top. So it’s easy to loosen the boots when putting them on and taking them off. Gaiters From time to time carriers may deliver earlier or later, or on non working days however this is cannot be guaranteed nor should it be expected.

Amongst its many testers has been inov-8 ambassador James Forrest, who recently used the ROCFLY™ G 390 boots to set a new record time for a solo and self-supported hike of Great Britain’s National Three Peaks. The RocFly G 390 Boots feature the world's first graphene-enhanced G-FLY foam in the midsole construction. This will provide you with ultimate comfort and response that can be felt mile after mile. The foam will deliver 25% greater energy return, which is guaranteed to give you a spring in your step. This will help feel fresher over greater distances. The boot also features a 10mm deep ADAPTER-FLEX groove, allowing it to adapt and react to the terrain like no other. Thanks to its 6mm drop, the RocFly offers long-distance comfort and makes it Inov8's most cushioned boot yet. Graphine-Grip Rubber Outsole Earlier this year the brand first launched G-FLY™ Graphene foam – which delivers 25% greater energy return – when debuting it on the award-winning TRAILFLY™ ULTRA G 300 MAX trail running shoe. Building on that success, inov-8 will now use it in a hiking product for the first time. I think the soles are not far from being the same as some Hoka shoes and boots. (Hoka is well known for deeper soles and high levels of cushioning.) I’ve thought about this for quite a while because I try to be fair and just because the boots suit me, doesn’t mean they’re right for someone else. But I have really struggled to find anything I don’t like about these boots. The only slight negative I can find with the Rocfly G 390 boots is the heal break on the sole. I like the sharper more emphasised heal on the Roclite Pro G 400 V2 boots. I think they grip better when descending on ‘very’ steep wet ground when you need to cut the heel in. This is a pretty minor complaint really because I think the RocFly G 390 boots heal grips really well in all other conditions. And I may be unfair to the boots for even mentioning it because all sole designs are a compromise. They are probably designed like this to gain comfort or grip elsewhere. Conclusion Inov-8’s biggest draw for me is their durability; Graphene infused rubber on the soul of their shoes, G-GRIP seems far more rugged than any rubber used by anyone else on the market. They have deep 4mm lugs that aggressively grip the dirt on any terrain.

A revolutionary boot like no other, the ROCFLY™ G 390 from inov-8 uses a unique Graphene-infused G-FLY™ foam that supercharges your feet so you can hike further than ever before. Longer lasting: Laboratory tests show that even when the G-FLY foam is aged to mimic extensive use, it still delivers more energy return than some unaged foams. Testing shows it still performs strongly after 1,200km – double the industry standard. Still, I’d trust this outsole for just about any type of hiking. And if you do plunge into the creek, at least you know the shoes will dry pretty fast! The ride is clearly ideal for not only for any day hike but for many day treks and for that matter uses where you are standing on your feet all day. And recall, it took James Forrest to that incredible 500 mile off roads record across the most rugged parts of the UK in less than 16 days. I can see how! The brand also states the unique Graphene-infused G-FLY™ foam “supercharges your feet” so you can hike further than ever before.A revolutionary boot like no other, the ROCFLY™ G 390 uses a unique Graphene-infused G-FLY™ foam that supercharges your feet so you can hike further than ever before. Our SportsShoes Running and Hiking ambassador, Ben Mounsey, has been busy putting the new inov-8 ROCFLY G 390 hiking shoesto the test; Fans of the inov-8 TRAILFLY™ Ultra G 300 Max Trail Running shoes will be delighted with the new inov-8 ROCFLY™ G 390 as it features the same GRAPHENE-GRIP™, G-FLY™, ADAPTER-FLEX™ technologies and an identical underfoot design. And just as with Graphene-Grip, after five weeks of vigorous testing, it’s hard for me to dispute the claims it makes. The new inov-8 ROCFLY™ G 390 hiking boots also have ADAPTER-FLEX™ grooves in the sole, which allows the boot and foot inside to react to the terrain “with the type of agility usually reserved for trail running shoes”.

The ROCFLY G 390 aims to make that question a little easier with a shoe that aspires to take the best of both worlds, providing the stability and ankle support of a boot crossed with the agility and ground feel of a trail runner. The first weekend I took the ROCFLY G 390s out it was damp -- standing in a cloud damp -- and all the rivers were running high, and it is not an exaggeration to say I totally submerged the boots in water more than a few times.Inov-8 make fantastic trail running shoes and hiking boots, so I was very excited when they combined both into this lightweight hybrid. The foam gives 25% more energy return. Laboratory tests show that even when the foam is aged to mimic extensive use, it still delivers more energy return than some unaged foams. The latter is a cleverly positioned 10mm underfoot groove that – unlike on more rigid cushioned hiking boots – allows the feet to adapt, react and mould to uneven terrain with agility. Delivery timescales are esimates in working days; Public Holidays, Saturday's and Sunday's are NOT classed as working days. GET A GRIP: 4mm rubber lugs enhanced by the world’s strongest material – Graphene – give long-lasting tough grip over all terrains.
