About this deal

The audio version was exceptional and Stina Nielsen did an amazing job narrating this book. She brought all the emotions to another level and made this experience even more unique. Perfect combination between story and audio performance. After four Blood and Ash series books and one Flesh and Fire series book it was bound to happen…a book has finally overtaken A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire as my all time favorite and it is A Light in the Flame!! This book took me a little to get into because I came straight from A Crown of Gilded Bones but I ended up loving it so much! All this brings up the sad realisation from Sera that she will die no matter what, the future she had hoped for is gone and her death remains the only constant. I cried along when Ash cried tears of blood, the sign of a Primals absolutely in grief.

Also, my other issue with this book is that it seemed the plot was going in circles sometimes and unlike book one, this was more repetitive. And similar to the world-building issue, I'm trying to word this correctly, but there shouldn't be as many new reveals especially as we're heading towards the end of Flesh and Fire and Blood and Ash series because I'm trying to connect the dots and I'm struggling.

Keep in Touch!

A Shadow in Ember is set many years before Blood and Ash. The land of Lasania is dying; the blight as it has been called, encroaches on the land a little more everyday. Seraphina has a chance to remedy that. She was promised to the primal of death a decade before her birth, to be his consort. Most think that is all there is to her destiny, but she knows her job is to make him fall in love with her and when he is weakened she must kill him. That is the only way to save her home. We find in the last chapters of the novel, that Sir Holland is actually not human. As it turns out, he is a Spirit of Fate. He is like a god who never ages. Princess Seraphena "Sera" Mierel stares at her reflection in the Shadow Temple, trying to calm her nerves. As her mother, Queen Calliphe of Lasania, approaches, Sera notes that she looks like her late father, and nothing like her mother. Sera has been treated like a Chosen her whole life, even though she is not one. She is the Maiden. Tonight is her 17th birthday, and she is to become the Primal of Death’s Consort. Sera began as a great MC nevertheless she undergoes zero change. Her development all through the book is actually non current. I imagine I like Poppy extra as a result of the proven fact that we are able to see her substantial development with the collection. For Sera she is much less naive so I feel she would not have as a lot to study? However both means the ‘spin’ at the finish regarding who she truly is was so silly in addition to was actually meaningless like can we cease.

What you carry inside you is far too important. They have to be part of the key to ending what Kolis has done. You may value those embers as little as you do your life, but I do not.”Update: JLa answered a bunch of questions for the book club (FB JLA book club) and some theories must be wrong with the answers we got 😬 We also now know that book 4 will not the last book in the Flesh and Fire series and despite the fact we will have to deal with another cliffhanger I am super happy these two get more books. Book Genre: Adult, Fantasy, Fantasy Romance, Fiction, High Fantasy, Magic, New Adult, Paranormal, Romance, Vampires He wishes he never had his kardia removed. He wants to love her and hates himself for being her damnation. Honestly, this entire book is one big painfest. I love them so much, I seriously do. It's nice to know that in the present time (FBAA timeline) these two are together and she ascended, are madly in love and had two children. I know it gets all messed up because of reasons we do not know yet but it's always good to know they will get their happy ending. The world building, the characters, the lore, the plot, the pace, the banter, the smut, the angst, Dear Lord The Spice.
