About this deal

You Are Awesome can help you do just that, inspiring and empowering young readers to find the confidence to realise their potential. The first children’s book from Times journalist, two-time Olympian and best-selling mindset author Matthew Syed, it uses examples of successful people from Mozart to Serena Williams to demonstrate that success really is earned rather than given, and that talent can be acquired. With hard work and determination, practice and self-belief, and, most importantly, a Growth Mindset, there’s no reason why anyone can’t achieve anything. I grew up with The Book of Awesome and The Book of (Even More) Awesome, so finding and reading You Are Awesome was like meeting a childhood friend who had also grown up and was here to share their life experiences and knowledge. Kind of like watching a movie and having the sequel come out ten years later, the characters aging with you and being relevant to your life experiences. Perhaps it’s the fact that it’s the perfect embodiment of the societal perception of what inspirational means. The book is essentially telling you to never give up, and to keep on practising your hobby, and look! I used to be terrible at table tennis! and I just hate it. Saying that the more you do something the better you become at it isn’t inspirational, it’s stating a fact. What’s inspirational is people overcoming the impossible. People carving out lives for themselves when society, or situation, or whatever seemingly insurmountable obstacle, tries to stop them. Inspirational is Gandalf coming over the hill with the riders of Rohan to win the battle of Helm’s Deep when all hope seemed lost, and yes that is Lord of the Rings but that is literally the most inspirational thing I can think of right now. I’m very tired. If you believe youcan'tdo something, the chances are you won't try. But what if you reallycouldget better at maths, or sport or exams? In fact, what if you could excel at anything you put your mind to?

Practical, insightful and positive, this is the book to help children build resilience, embrace their mistakes and grow into successful, happy adults. I was immediately drawn into You Are Awesome because of how relatable the writing is. Neil Pasricha is charismatic and resilient and the writing is conversational like you are talking with a good friend. So, no matter how tough life can get, always remember you have a choice. Your mistakes are just steps to your successful future and it’s okay to lose sometimes. Hope you all enjoy my review of You Are Awesome by Neil Pasricha, thank you. I loves Pasricha’s thoughts on resilience and I couldn’t settle on who this book was best for, my son, my husband or my mother! Neil hits the nail on the head when it comes to adjusting your outlook on your own life and on people and the world around you. He puts a positive spin on what we might typically see as failure, bad news, short end of the straw. Opportunity awaits us around every corner and behind every door. It is just a matter of being able to see the good, be resilient, keep on going, and put yourself in the best situations to encourage success. Learn How to Navigate Change, Wrestle With Failure and Live An Intentional Life; Neil Pasricha’s You Are Awesome Provides Solid Advice and Inspiration

I may be biased. I had to study this in school. I received a copy for my end of primary school leavers gift. The only reason I still own it is for the messages my teachers wrote in it. A cookie set by YouTube to measure bandwidth that determines whether the user gets the new or old player interface. Pasricha writes with compassion and proactivity and reminds us that we are all works in progress. Sometimes self-help books can help you feel heard but not really have a plan, or make you feel like you are being talked down to and make you just feel worse. You Are Awesome contains straightforward steps that make you feel less alone but also help you move FORWARD.Resilence is a skill and often the people that are most resilient aren’t ones that have had the easiest path in life but are the ones that use those bumps in the road to learn and grow. Positively doesn’t mean you don’t have struggles, it means using perspective to take what you can from them and continue on. With hard work and determination, practice and self-belief, and, most importantly, a Growth Mindset, there's no reason why anyone can't achieve anything. Got this book for Bill my son, but ended up reading it myself. A book written for kids and young adults, but a nice read for parents as well. It talks about the usual stuff fixed vs growth mindset, see failures as learning opportunities, how to practice and how to break down goals into smaller parts. It can apply to girls interests as well or those sports minded but it didn't hit some more stereotypical feminine pursuits but it gives you the steps to do anything you want. Not just sports, and not just make up and fashion design or baking. (Or whatever Girls are into, I am a girl who into sports and LEGO, so figure that one out"
