About this deal

And….. I would absolutely love to see your collection of Roman and Greek artifacts, along with that little box of photographs at the top of the stairs. I totally get it. We humans seem to really enjoy collecting things.

I am very much looking forward to hearing the Ragged Glory version of Interstate. I've had a couple of listens to Don't Spook The Horse and can't get the riff out of my head now. The song title was inspired by the band's tendency to lose their nerve and ability to play with feeling when there's a sense they're being watched or judged. Guitarist Poncho Sampedro explains in a March 2021 interview for Rolling Stone: The second album in the new box, Ragged Glory, reunited Young with Crazy Horse. Recorded at Young's Broken Arrow Ranch in Northern California, the album belatedly built on the hard-hitting, heavy sound of such past records as Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere and Zuma. For this reissue, four rarities have been added under the umbrella title of Smell the Horse: the B-sides "Interstate" and "Don't Spook the Horse," and the previously unreleased outtake "Box Car" and extended, 12-minute version of "Born to Run." (In 2018, Young revealed that 38 minutes of session material from Ragged Glory had been newly discovered, with an extended version of one song among the five that were found. "Born to Run" may well be that extended version. "Box Car" is likely also from those tapes, though whether the remaining material will be released is anybody's guess.)Christgau, Robert (October 23, 1990). "Consumer Guide". The Village Voice . Retrieved December 18, 2016. Ragged glory is such a great album can't wait for this new release. With Springsteen hitting the road next year I wonder when we are going to see the horse out of the barn, it can't come soon enough for me. Christgau, Robert (March 5, 1991). "Hard News in a Soft Year". The Village Voice . Retrieved December 22, 2016. Yet even as that precocious latter group supported Young in the studio and on the road as of The Monsanto Years , their rambunctious soul evoked nothing so much as Neil and Crazy Horse at their finest; is it much surprise the latter foursome got together again for some off-the-cuff shows in 2018 (recruiting long-time compadre and early CH member Nils Lofgren in place of Sampedro), then made a record ( Colorado ) the very next year? Sandow, Greg (September 14, 1990). "Ragged Glory". Entertainment Weekly . Retrieved December 22, 2016.

Abner : Yes, Too Far Gone was played live a lot. Live ‘76 Songs for Judy. Personally, I think the song evolved and improved when he dropped the “double dip” of favorite car, favorite bar. The Freedom version is superior. Weisbard, Eric; Marks, Craig, eds. (1995). "Neil Young". Spin Alternative Record Guide. New York: Vintage Books. ISBN 0-679-75574-8. Speak not because it is safe, but because it is right.— Edward Snowden (@Snowden) February 11, 2017 My wife and I are in the process of moving, and we have been working tirelessly to get rid anything that doesn’t serve a useful purpose in our lives. Like many people we have accumulated a ridiculous amount of stuff over the past twenty one years, and we have made a conscious decision to live with less. I must say that the process has been incredibly liberating to say the least. Unfortunately we are both passionate about music, and although we have let much of our collection go over the past few years, Neil Young is just too important for us. Less than a year later, Young reunited with Crazy Horse, seeming fully intent on evoking the spirit of their original bonding in 1969 on Everywhere Knows This Is Nowhere . The late Danny Whitten played guitar and sang on that seminal release, while in the quartet’s subsequent incarnation (following the latter’s tragic demise), guitarist/keyboardist/vocalist Frank ” Poncho” Sampedro appeared to reignite an altogether similar chemistry on 1975’s Zuma. Following Live Rust, predating Weld and more than fully living up to this record’s title (political implications aside), Neil and the reconfigured ensemble continued in that simple yet effective, cacophonous vein with Ragged Glory, absolutely reveling in how deeply they relished playing together.Still, elsewhere in the same interview, he hinted that a deeper focus on family in the '80s — particularly caring for his sons Ben and Zeke, both of whom were diagnosed with cerebral palsy — led to a shift in priorities that reduced his drive to make new music. "I closed myself down so much that I was making it, doing great with surviving – but my soul was completely encased," he mused. "I didn't even consider that I would need a soul to play my music, that when I shut the door on 'pain,' I shut the door on my music. That's what I did. And that's how people get old."
