About this deal

Some other remarkable characters were doubtlessly Matt and Daphne. Seriously, thanks to these two there were some really unexpected turning points that killed me. The tapes in question — never before heard by the public until now — belong to journalist Anthony Summers, author of the book Goddess: The Secret Lives of Marilyn Monroe, upon which the documentary is based. Zeus: I'm immortal. History doesn't matter. And I don't like the fact that the king of the gods is portrayed as the villain. I might have my moments, but I'm NOT a villain. I leave that to my wife. Hades: Oh, the River Styx is way too good for her. I'd probably make her watch Disney's Hercules for an eternity. I didn’t like everything about the final battle. For one thing, I thought it was a little too pretty. Everything seemed to fall exactly into place, and it didn’t feel very realistic. Still, despite this, I felt that it was absolutely worth reading. Just because it wrapped up a little too nicely I didn’t think any less of the book.

Graves concluded, in the second and expanded edition, that the male-dominant monotheistic god of Judaism and its successors were the cause of the White Goddess's downfall, and thus the source of much of the modern world's woe. He describes Woman as occupying a higher echelon than mere poet, that of the Muse Herself. He adds "This is not to say that a woman should refrain from writing poems; only, that she should write as a woman, not as an honorary man." He seems particularly bothered by the spectre of women's writing reflecting male-dominated poetic conventions. [4] The past was connected with the present and shown from a completely new and interesting point of view what made the book even more enjoyable. Athena: Touche. Here's the gist Helen was Guinevere in a past life and the romance to Guinevere and Lancelot was akin to Helen and Paris. And forget about Guinevere ever having feelings for dear old Arthur.Athena: Shut up. And really, what are you going to do with your time? Turn another girl into a tree? I loved watching Helen and her friends prepare to fight the final battle together. For once, everyone was working together, sharing a common goal, and it made them stronger. It’s a good opportunity to incorporate breakfast into my routine, as experts commonly say it’s the most important meal of the day. Athena: She's your sister and you're off topic again. So let's talk about the book. It's obvious that Angelini wants to be with us and has created an ultra super duper Mary Sue. Really, I don't know who is more super duper than Helen. Even Powergirl isn't as powerful as her and she's immune to Kryptonite. The story is also decidedly feminist, exploring themes surrounding sexuality and identity. This story could certainly be considered a female coming of age for older teenage girls transitioning into women.

Even though I am confuse as why you would like this review since it's so unprofessional and simple. orz This collection of poems by the acclaimed author of When I Hit You is uncompromising and approaches figures from ancient Hindu literature with subversion. Her preface Should You Take Offence is indicative of the book’s mission: “Your myths put me in my place. Therefore, I take perverse pleasure in such deliberate paraphrase … I do not write into patriarchy. My Maariamma bays for blood. My Kali kills. My Draupadi strips. My Sita climbs on to a stranger’s lap. All my women militate.” Her poems Random Access Man and Princess-in-Exile imagine a different version of Sita, the long-suffering wife of Rama, who is central in the epic poem the Ramayana. Exhilarating.Athena: Did you really have to break that Grecian urn, it was a gift from...it's been so long I've forgotten who made it. Vogel, Amber, 'Not Elizabeth to his Raleigh: Laura Riding, Robert Graves, and origins of The White Goddess', in Literary Couplings: Writing Couples, Collaborators, and the Construction of Authorship, ed. by Marjorie Stone and Judith Thompson ( University of Wisconsin Press, 2006), pp.229–239, ISBN 978-0-299-21760-0 Goddesses in Every Woman by Jean Shinoda Bolen: This important Goddess book is about the power of archetypes and their use in looking at the psychological make up of women. Focusing on the Greek Goddesses of the ancient world Jean does an amazing job in helping bring the personality and behavioural traits of these mythic beings into a modern context and how they live within us as women of today. Once you see yourself in the bounteous Aphrodite, independent Artemis or warrior like Athena you will be left inspired on which parts of your light to shine even brighter and which parts of your shadow to nurture even deeper. Lindop, Grevel, 'A Crazy Book: Robert Graves and The White Goddess', PN Review, 24, no. 1 [117] (1997 Sept–Oct), 27–29

Graves believed that one could be in the true presence of the White Goddess when reading a poem, but in his view, this could be achieved only by a true poet of the wild, and not a classical poet, or even a Romantic poet, of whom he spoke critically: "The typical poet of the 19th-century was physically degenerate, or ailing, addicted to drugs and melancholia, critically unbalanced and a true poet only in his fatalistic regard for the Goddess as the mistress who commanded his destiny". [3] Poetry and myth [ edit ] OK, first off, I would like to thank all the likes. I got like 20 so far. Yay! Lol. And I would like to say sorry for all the editing on this review. Lastly, I would just like to say, I didn't mean to offend anyone by this review, it's just my opinion, and please respect it, since I will respect yours. Now, commenting on this review is ok; I am actually glad someone would comment. Just please don't flame me with your opinions, stating I'm wrong or whatever, I don't like that. Just state your opinions nicely, and have an open mind. Don't hate me just because I like Orion better than Lucas. Ok. Enough said. Have a nice day~ c:

On to the possession part of the story. Which frankly might have been the worst part of the whole book. When the scene happens all of the friends see this terrible thing happening to their friend, but then go on to deny that their friend is possessed. Then when they finally realize she is, they just take her out clubbing instead of ya know, helping their friend get rid of the goddess. Hector. He was awesome as usual. I always had a soft spot for him, though in the beginning I was skeptical of him. But he turned out to be badass. His loyalty to his family and helping Helen discover her powers and how to use them was amazing. He would do anything for those he loved. And God, I gotta say I lost it at one point. Some things happened and well I won't spoil it but he scared me. I was so happy to be in his presence. Athena: God, you're almost as bad as Hades. Scratch that, he's probably a little bit more sane than you because he only took one girl. This well researched biography focuses on the "post-childhood" Marilyn Monroe. It is centered around the major movies in which she starred, her two marriages, and the many, many (I mean many) love affairs and sexual flings that connected her post-childhood years to her movie star fame and to her untimely demise.
