About this deal

The acoustic instruments in the arrangement of Missy Higgins’ Nightminds became almost recessed, such was the prominence and crispness of her vocal. On Sweet Arms of a Tune it was the acoustic guitar which was thrust forward, with Higgins’ vocals almost too insistent; the R200s don’t forgive an edgy production. But when she is more truthfully captured, as on Greed For Your Love, the realism was tangible. Option for freedom: Expanded sweet spot allows for exceptional acoustics from anywhere in the room. The R200 proved truthful at both low levels and high, able to deliver a solid bass and a remarkable clarity of midrange assisted perhaps by that new X-Port, while the Pinnacle tweeter gifts an airy and open treble beyond the likely limits of perception. As far as how each 'sounds', they are near identical in the fact they timbre match NEAR perfectly. Hell to me even the r200 vs l200 sound near the same with the L200 sounding a touch cleaner and sharper. More refined is best I can describe it. But not enough to make a timbre difference with mix matching in a setup. Keep in mind, these differences only popped out when I was doing very critical side by side testing and they are minor. Day to day use I have never noticed a timbre difference in my reserve and legend surround mix of speakers. All flows perfectly. While in the larger Reserve models this driver is used for the midrange alone, its bass performance is, as we’ll see, still suitable for unsupported use in a standmount design, maintaining output fully down to 150Hz then declining relatively slowly to be 6dB down around 70Hz.

Polk’s new Power Port 2.0 is the latest version of our successful Power Port technology. In addition to Power Port’s carefully engineered port design that smooths the flow of air as it exits the cabinet through the port, X-Port adds a set of closed-pipe absorbers that are specifically tuned to unwanted cabinet and port resonances. Together, these two technologies combine to function as Power Port 2.0 to deliver smooth, detailed audio. Combined with dual 8” woofers, you’ll get louder, cleaner bass while minimising turbulence and port noise. EXCEPTIONAL CABINETRYUnrivaled Sonic Performance: Striking audio clarity and authentic sound reproduction with two 8" woofers. Certified with Hi-Res, Dolby Atmos Enabled, and IMAX Enhanced, these speakers guarantee incomparable audio quality and a colossal home theater experience. Features We kept them on light duties for a week to warm them through while deciding on positioning, settling on solid stands toed in slightly to keep their pointy tweeters at ear height and directly at our ears. We aren’t satisfied with the status quo. We rigorously test products, delve deep into the details, ensuring you get nothing but the best. We're about quality, not just brand names.

In the realm of acoustics, the Polk Audio - Reserve R700 - Flagship Floorstanding Speakers stand unparalleled, creating a symphony of notes that reverberate through space with a captivating resonance. They are not just speakers; they are the embodiment of Polk Audio’s celebrated audio legacy and a testament to avant-garde technologies that redefine sound. These are the speakers that discerning audiophiles dream of – the powerful bass, the crisp mids, and the sparkling highs all coming together to orchestrate a symphony of sounds only speakers of such commanding stature can achieve. The grandeur of their performance finds a match in their aesthetic appeal, making them the ultimate pièce de résistance for your listening space. External and internal waveguides control the dispersion of such high-frequency energy, aiming to deliver a wider sweet spot and more consistent sound across listening positions. The Pinnacle tweeter also enjoys its own sealed cavity filled with damping material, which Polk indicates removes a ridge of internal resonance at 2.5kHz, slightly below the 3kHz crossover point in this model.Enhanced audio precision: Turbine Cone Woofer provides increased accuracy and speed for impressive detail. But the L800has the obvious benefit of a roided out structure (r700 internals are very good though cabinet wise as well) and the imaging/soundstage on the L800 has no contest. It blows the imaging of any speaker I heard out of the water. It, when set up properly (which isn't hard. I don't even have any treatment and still worked ok. I can't wait for the day I can treat the room and see how much better the SDA effect is) can surround you and make it seem like your side surrounds are active when they really aren't and it can somehow project a 3 dimensional soundstage where, depending on the recording, can separate the instruments in a field to where you can tell ok, this violin is here and a snare drum here. You won't get this on all sources though, especially if the recording wasn't done well. Very hit or miss if a song will have a wow factor or sound 'normal' like on your old speakers. Songs with good stereo separation or binaural recordings shine on em. Moving in stereo by cars, surprisingly shoulder lean by young dro (he has random voices in entire song in random locations. Sometimes to side, front left, right etc. Wasnt expecting such good mixing on that rap song lol) and should be viewed using a good sound system. Polk Reserve R700 Floorstanding Loudspeaker Measurements & Conclusion L800 has some insane bass. I mean insane. It does have dual 10s though vs dual 8s in R700. I'd argue the L800 bass is a tad tighter, but whether that's in my head or just due to it being able to output more and go lower hz.. who knows. I don't have tools for scientific studies lol
