About this deal

Model D’s HoneyComb Shell is the key to achieving a feather-light weight while maintaining its ultra-durable strength. You’ll barely feel the holes during gameplay, but they provide ventilation to keep your palms cool & fresh. Cleaning the Model D is easy, just use any air canister to keep your mouse good as new. Unfortunately, the indicator light that alerts you to what CPI setting you’re using is on the mouse’s underside. This can be a real pain if you like to switch between two settings for assault rifles and sniper rifles, for example, or keep a super-low DPI for railgunning in Quake. You can get around this by setting all six steps available to one of two values. Due to the honeycomb design, you’ll collect an insane amount of dust depending on your environment. With a little preparation and some simple steps, you can enjoy better control and performance like the pros.

That may have as much to do with its size and shape as the weight. At 5.04 by 2.64 by 1.65 inches, the Model D is slim but shapely. My hand fits perfectly into position when gripping it. Though it's relatively low, its sloped shape guides your hand into a proper palm form, draping your hand in the most comfortable way. That said, while the shape creates an exceptional fit, the base's low slope does not provide as much ergonomic support as it could, particularly for the base of your thumb. Less visually appealing is the branding on the Model D-. The snooty reputation of the so-called Glorious PC Gaming Race is embodied through a picture of its mascot where your thumb goes, as well as on the mouse’s underside. There’s also a more forgivable and smaller “Glorious” stamp on the right side. Its a really good mouse, great sensor, light, feels great in hand, only thing id worry about is build quality, obvs because its perforated, it would probably break after having a heavy textbook dropped on it. But if you don't really put your mouse in those type of situations then you're good. There are three RGB zones on the Model D-: along each side and on the scroll wheel. Are all customizable via Glorious’ own software (more on that later). These RGB zones are pin-sharp. When I first plugged in the mouse, a rainbow effect took over by default. It was genuinely impressive how many individual regions there were along those bands of RGB.

We've converted this review to Test Bench 1.2. This update simplifies our Weight test and expands on our CPI test from Test Bench 1.1, resulting in changes to test results in both sections. For more details, you can see our complete changelog here. Choosing between the Model D- and Model O- will come down to comfort, and that depends on your hand, shape, size and grip. Both Minus models will feel more comfortable to smaller hands and claw grips. The larger variants will fill out a palm nicely for palm and hybrid grip players, and are naturally better suited to larger digits and pads. Plus, the Model D- is lighter than the Model D.Let’s start by stating the obvious: The Model D- isn’t the perfect mouse for trying to run a World of Warcraft raid or fly a plane in the new Microsoft Flight Simulator. Its six-button layout is intended very much for shooters, and it’s in shooters where our testing primarily lies. Due to the honeycomb design, you’ll collect an insane amount of dust depending on where you’re sitting and unfortunately for me, I sit next to a 6ft open door which means the dust particles think my setup is mumbai train station, so I can see a lot of dust inside my model D. Also, don’t spill water or any liquid on the mouse or else you will be crying that whole week.

The skates stop gliding as easily after a bit, so they still do well but the smoothness you experience on the first day isn’t consistent after that. Software has all you need, though the lowest you can go is 400 DPI and some people who moved from Logitech like me used to use 200/350 DPI have to adapt to 400. Be careful when using the hairdryer too, as you want to avoid overheating the mouse, which can cause damage to your mouse (plastic melting or warping) and also cause injury to yourself, so proceed with caution. The scroll wheel in this model, as with other Glorious mice, has a notched scroll style and doesn’t feature inputs by nudging it to either side. It proved well-suited to shooters too. In these games, you want clearly defined scroll inputs for changing weapons or zoom levels but don’t want to accidentally fire off your special with a heavy-handed nudge.

Word of warning, though, if you wish to get the best out of this mouse, you need a system that can keep up. Consequently, to achieve the highest polling speeds, you must have a monitor with a 144Hz refresh rate and an Intel 9 th Gen CPU. The Glorious Model D2 Pro 4k/8K Hz edition mouse is built to last. You can use the spudger or knife on its own without using the hairdryer, especially if you're unsure of how long to heat the feet up by. This may leave traces of glue on the bottom of the mouse however, which will need to be removed before attaching the new mouse feet.

With the Model D, Glorious PC Gaming Race shows that it knows what's most important about making a great gaming mouse. It needs to feel good in your hand. It needs to be sturdy and reliable. It should be powerful enough that you never see the upper limits of what it can do. Don't get me wrong, I love the bells and whistles of more feature-rich mice (wireless connectivity, extra inputs, and all that), but the most important thing is that you nail the fundamentals. For me, the design is as much an aesthetic choice as anything else. I can't tell you how much weight the mouse loses because of the holes, or whether they make a meaningful impact on its movement. I can tell you that it looks sharp and interesting. Glorious makes discrete but similar configuration programs for both of its mice. The Model D app has a simple one-window design that makes it easy to find every function you might need, including remapping keys, creating macros, changing DPI settings, and tweaking lighting. When you're looking to switch out your skates, you’ll need to choose replacements that fit your specific model of mouse due to each mouse having a different layout on its base where the skates are installed. The exception being brands who use the same mouse chassis for multiple models, but that will be mentioned on the skates product description. Before applying the grip tape, it is essential to clean your mouse to remove any dirt or oils that may interfere with the grip tape's adhesion. Use a soft cloth and rubbing alcohol to gently clean the surface of your mouse, taking care not to damage the coating. Make sure to remove all the dirt and oil residues, especially around the edges of your mouse.

Super D moves

Don’t let competitors fool you with inflated stats on low-quality switches. Model D comes with state-of-the-art Omron switches, with the highest durability rating and quality control standards. The Model D will outlive other inferior gaming mice. And when it comes to the D or O shape, you’ll probably feel more at home with one than the other, based on the shape you’ve spent more time with. My hand is permanently molded around a Microsoft IntelliMouse shape now, so the O feels like home. If you spent your formative years with an asymmetrical shape, the D is better suited. And if you don’t like RGB, Zowie’s FK range is still your best bet. The main buttons, LMB/RMB, along with the small DPI shift button and the scroll wheel, are satisfying to press. This method involves using the hairdryer to heat up the glue underneath the mouse feet. Once the glue has been heated long enough, use a spudger (a flat plastic tool with a sharp end) or a knife to scrape underneath the feet to peel them off — be careful if using a knife! Looks drop-dead gorgeous, especially when I put single-color purple on, it matches the white beautifully.
