My only complaint is that I wanted to better understand the councils and have a bit more background on that but maybe that will be explored in other books that have Hunters in them. I would have liked some more description of the Shade world and their customs because I was left with some questions about a lot of things but I did like that the story focused primarily on Allerick and Ophelia's blossoming romance. With more happening than both of them know, will Allerick and Ophelia find common ground and build a life together? I wonder if any of my colleagues will be monster food tonight, I thought idly, smiling and nodding at whatever they were saying while tracing lines in the condensation on my glass. Seriously, I was one muttered complaint about how slow my human legs moved away from whispering, ‘sorry, Monster Daddy,’ and dropping to my knees to ask for forgiveness.

It gave this rather sweet love story some tension and angst at the beginning drawing out the will they/won't they. There are some misunderstandings, and drama surrounding the peace treaty, but there’s also a sweet HFN ending that’s making me crave more of this series.

I can see why him holding himself back due to his own insecurities (all valid) spiked Ophelia's own to a hurtful level (which made my heart hurt). Totally oblivious to the fact that the heroine's all sweaty and horny and like, I'm going to ride that man like a carnival pony.This was everything; it had the perfect combination of romance, plot, steam, worldbuilding, and intrigue. She even made the grave sin of committing some X-rated monster thoughts to paper—which in hindsight may not have been the best idea because her parents were mortified—but you live and learn. Now she just needs to convince her surly monster husband, Allerick, that she’s the best fit for him. When Ophelia does the unthinkable in the eyes of the hunters, she is cast out and lives a life away from all of it.

Whether it be to inform the reader or to show how oblivious the characters were, some points were annoyingly heavy-handed. I only wish the emotional connection was more developed, as they went from lots of horniness to love pretty quickly, but I still found the whole book very entertaining. I craved the monster to be a little more monster-y, and I wanted to know so much more about the history of these seemingly polar opposites. I loved Ophelia (FMC) the most, and in my opinion she carried this mountain in her smol hands almost single-handedly.The writing is fantastic, her imagination vivid, the sex scenes smoking and the wittiness between the characters completely engaging. Superbia is the second book in the series and released on March 1, 2023, so now is the perfect time to start this series.
