About this deal

She was a little over-stalkery, ngl, and at times took it over the top, but on the whole I felt she was a really well developed and fleshed out character.

Please upvote if you think it's good, I think a 10 would be enough to nudge me into reading it but I'd really appreciate some insight.

The story follows Lucy Hutton and Joshua Templeman, forced together through a merger that neither of the publishing companies – the sweet and free-flowing Gamins or the uptight, tight-laced Bexleys – really wanted. By the end of the day Lucy is incredibly sick so he takes her home and takes care of her while she gloriously graces the pages of the book with one of the best vomit scenes that I have ever read. Both his eyebrows ratchet up, and he opens his mouth as his eyes go completely black, but he does not seem to be able to say a word.

I experienced my first ever ‘close the book to giggle and kick your feet in the air while screaming’ moment reading this book. I read it in a matter of hours, because I just had to find out what would happen next, + I’m way too much of a sucker for hate/love situations to be able to put this down. When I think about his teeth biting softly down on my bottom lip, I get a clenching flutter between my legs. I do wish she had more self confidence- I would really love to see a book where the woman knows she’s beautiful and owns it, instead of waiting around for some dude to tell her she’s hot, but bottom line is I loved her.And I would love to have in depth discussions with fans of the book for their take on both characters connection together and their individual characters and backgrounds. Delighted by the ins and outs of the publishing world, delighted with the dialogue between them, delighted by the wit that Lucy demonstrates in her inner monologues. I read this in the middle of the night and spent the entire time giggling and smiling, because this book was just a blast. I have to say that his over-protectiveness and jealousy did annoy me, and I think he snapped wayyy too easily at times, but I actually did quite like his character.

Sally Thorne creates a humorous dynamic between the pair that sees them constantly competing - the aim of their game to make the other smile or cry. There isn’t much that everyone hasn’t already said about this book so I will go straight into why I loved the book. I hated his father for how he treated him and I was surprised no one actually understand him and stood up for him until Lucy did. Except it’s SO obvious to anyone but Lucy that he is super into her and in fact does not hate her at all.Her nemesis Joshua Templeman is the brooding, regimented executive assistant to the business-side boss, Richard. I really enjoyed the depth and different facets that the author gave their personalities and their romance, in that regard. There’s a full-length mirror, and I see myself, at long last sitting on the bed in his robin’s-egg bedroom. And then the book just sorta ends, instead of telling us what happens next with the promotion and with her long-put-off trip home, as if the only worthwhile part of Lucy’s story is how she finally starts banging the hot guy.

I liked the characters well enough and really felt for them during some scenes, but I just never 100% committed to them. Then at the end of one particularly vitriolic and hurtful day, after their usual riling of each other, the two share a hot and heated kiss in the office elevator and the game rules change.
