About this deal

Also, the Golden Globes don’t recognize many of the technical categories that the Oscars do, so a total shut-out seemed unlikely at least when it came to the technical categories. One of the most high-profile releases in the fall of 1992 was Francis Ford Coppola’s adaptation of “Dracula,” starring Gary Oldman, Anthony Hopkins, Winona Ryder and Keanu Reeves. As anybody familiar with the fictional but likely all-too-close-to-the-truth Paramount+ TV Show, The Offer, will probably know too well, the decade of making cinema-defining classics like Apocalypse Now and The Godfather Part I and Part II was not a particularly forgiving one for Coppola. She never thought it would move forward, but Coppola admitted that Dracula was one of his favorite movie monsters. The new 4K disc enjoys the Love Song For A Vampire Music Video by Annie Lennox, which is a nice addition, the track itself a lovely closing to the feature.

Elsewhere, there are several thorough pieces on costume designer Ishioka Eiko, in-camera effects work (with a lovely nod to Mario Bava), and the production of elaborate electronic storyboards. But the biggest praise at the time came from Hal Hinson in The Washington Post, who declared, “It is Coppola’s most lavish and, certainly, his most flamboyant film; never before has he allowed himself this kind of mad experimentation. Hopkins and Oldman regularly compete to see who can devour the most scenery in a given scene, and they both bring oddball flourishes to their roles, like the moment where Hopkins suddenly sniffs Ryder’s face like a bloodhound. With rose-tinted familiarity, the supporting performances all feel quaintly charming thirty years on - eminently forgivable even - but there's no denying the hilarity of that damn accent. years later and Bram Stoker's Dracula still holds up as one of the most popular vampire movies and one of the best horror movies of all time.

We definitely see that in a few scenes, both implied and explicit where you can feel the sexual tension along with the “will they, won’t they” energy.

It's comfortably one of the best vampiric interpretations out there, and a classic love story at that, and though it is a shame that it is frequently ridiculed for some undeniably poor casting and accent decisions, once you've seen Oldman's Count 'Vlad The Impaler' Dracula, you're unlikely to ever forget him or the film. On the other side of things, I’m not at all a fan of the romantic anti-hero angle for the character. Bram Stoker’s Dracula rises from the grave once again to feed upon the wallets of physical media collectors for a new two-disc 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray 30th Anniversary SteelBook. On one side I am completely enamored with the care and attention and scale that Ford and his team took to create Stoker’s grim and terrifying world of Transylvania and Victorian London.
