LENT GROUPS
With regret these will not run after 16th March. We will be running three Lent Groups, and as usual we have compline on Sunday evenings:
1. "Broken": on six Mondays starting 24th Feb, 2-4pm at Felicity's house. 'Broken' a six session course based on the BBC TV series about a RC priest in a tough estate. The series is gritty and raises tough questions about human brokenness and the possibility of faith. It contains issues of poverty, abuse, mental illness, addiction, truth telling, suicide, anger, reconciliation in the context of faith ... and will not be everyone's cup of tea. It is not for the faint hearted.
2. "Broken But Beautiful": The Making Group will respond to Biblical themes of brokenness through some of the Gospel encounters of Jesus, and creating five installations for the church as our response. We shall be meeting on Mondays in Lent starting on 2nd March, 7:45pm, in the Refectory. If you are interested please see Rosemary Meara.
3. "Prayer, As Jesus Taught It": A daytime course on Prayer using the Pilgrim series, and led by Martin. Thursdays 10.30am, St John's Lady Chapel.
4. Lenten Compline: Candlelit service in the chancel of St Mary's Kidlington with a reflection at 8.45pm followed by Compline at 9pm. The theme of the talks will be Prayer. Led by John Morris. Every Sunday in Lent (begins 1st March) and every day in Holy Week.
PARISH APCM
Arrangements to be determined

Once a year, in April, we have our parish meeting. At the meeting we hear reports of the past year (and the accounts) and elect congregation members to help share in the running and leadership of our three churches. Before the meeting we update the list of people who consider themselves as belonging to this church, the electoral roll. This is the main measure of church growth or decline nationally so it is important to be on the list if you are attending church. It does not cost anything and does not commit you to anything. It allows you to vote at the annual meeting (and it is NOT the same as the council electoral roll for general elections). If you have joined us in the past year please do fill in an electoral roll form. This year we also have vacancies for 1 church warden at St Mary's and 11 PCC members drawn from all three churches. PCC membership lasts for three years and is a chance to be involved in how the churches run and share in decisions about our priorities. Things that are coming up : becoming members of 'Inclusive Church', Signing up to be an 'Eco-Church', the 3 buildings projects, and re-making a 5-year Action Plan. We welcome new people, especially if you have never done this sort of thing before. The meetings are neither boring (we hope) nor long; the atmosphere is supportive and not argumentative. Could you join the PCC? Please come and talk if you are unsure.

REGULAR GIVING
New Planned Giving envelopes for 2020/21 will start on 5th April. If you currently use envelopes but think now would be a good time to change to a bank standing order, or direct debit via the Parish Giving Scheme, then please let me know and I'll give you the necessary paperwork. If you do not give regularly via the Planned Giving scheme (envelopes, standing orders, direct debits or cheques) then please consider it as the best way of giving the parish the regular income it needs to keep everything running. If you are a tax-payer, putting cash into the collection, rather than using Planned Giving, means that the parish is losing out on the Gift Aid we could claim from the government on all that you give (and higher-rate tax payers would also be losing out on the refund they could claim). For more information, forms, envelopes etc, ask Margaret Day (tel: 375916, email: margaret.day12@btinternet.com)

WORLD DAY OF PRAYER 6th March
All are invited to share in a special service to celebrate the World Day of Prayer at St John's Church in Kidlington on Friday 6th March, at 7.00pm. WDP is an international ecumenical day of prayer using resources produced by women. In the UK this may not seem very radical but there are parts of the world in which women are considered second class citizens and the chance to take part in planning and leading this service gives them a voice. This year the service was written by women in Zimbabwe with the theme of "Rise! Take your mat and walk". Everyone is warmly invited and encouraged to come and worship with them. There will be refreshments after the service. We look forward to seeing you there.
