General Notices

Thank you!
Thanks so much to everyone who made my final service such a special one. I especially appreciate all your kind words and cards and your very generous gift. I really do appreciate it – and I apologize to anyone I failed to say farewell to on Sunday. My licensing will be at St Peter's Wolvercote at 6:30 pm on Sunday 21 May. You are all most welcome! With every blessing - William

BAPTISM AT ST MARY'S
We have introduced a system of baptism accompaniers for families who have their babies baptised in a 2pm service on the 1st Sunday of the month at St Mary's. The idea is that someone from the congregation acts as a personal point of contact with the family, getting in touch with them before the service, being there at the baptism and then contacting them afterwards to invite them back to be welcomed into the church and receive a gift during the 10.00am service on the 4th Sunday of the same month. We are looking for more people to support this important outreach role to people in our community and would love to hear from you if you would like to serve in this way. Please speak to Meghann Hewett (meghann_hewett@hotmail.com / 580166).

IONA SERVICE
Now every Tuesday 7.30pm St John's Lady Chapel. From this week we are making our Iona Communion a weekly event. If you like a more contemplative service, with alternative liturgies - usually based on those from Iona, then you would be very welcome.

GATEHOUSE COLLECTIONS
A huge thank you to everyone who responded so magnificently to my appeal for more food/drink gifts for the Gatehouse Homeless Centre! Please keep it up. Adding an extra item to your shopping helps contribute to the well-being of homeless people in Oxford. Please put your contributions in the box in the Refectory - non-perishables only, please. If you are going to be away on the collection date, you can always leave your contributions in the box in advance. Please note that the next Gatehouse collection day is May 25th and will be at Margaret Day's house, 6, Winston Close, off Churchill Road. Back to normal at my house in June! Sarah Karatzios.

PHOTO BOARD
We are updating the photo board at the back of St Mary's. If your photo is not there or if it is out of date, John Morris would be delighted to take your photo. If you have joined us recently please don't be shy - it helps us all get to know each other.

COFFEE TIME CONCERTS
I am putting together our programme of 2017 coffee time concerts (informal 15-20 minute musical offerings after Sunday services). If you would like to offer a concert or know someone who might, please contact David Hewett (07724 063194).

CHERWELL COUNSELLING
We are pleased to inform you of a new service that is available to the residents of Kidlington and beyond- Cherwell Counselling. This is a low cost affordable counselling service aimed at those who otherwise could not afford private counselling and psychotherapy. The service is provided by fully qualified and supervised counsellors. They work from rooms in the Baptist Church in Kidlington. There are leaflets providing more detail about Cherwell Counselling on the welcome desk of the church, including how to make contact with the counsellors. If you require any further information please do contact Jill Buckeldee (07889 339927), Henrietta Bachelor (07583 070481) and/or Giles Charrington (01865 375283).
