About this deal

Since the last book, Clarkson’s enthusiastic schemes for diversification have been met with stubborn opposition from the ‘red trouser bridgade’, and Kaleb and Lisa have had doubts about Jeremy’s plan to build a business empire based on rewilding and nettle soup. So, while he is the first to admit that he is still only a ‘trainee farmer’, he clearly still has work to do.” Book one of the Diddly Squat series spanned his first year running his 1,000-acre farm in Oxfordshire. It ranges from laugh-out-loud entertainment from his views on the ‘endlessly annoying’ government and his obnoxious sheep, to the more serious concerns facing the industry. National Farmers Union says that “Clarkson has showcased the passion, humour and personalities of the people who work throughout the year to grow the nation’s food”. Then there are the animals: the sheep are gone; the cows have been joined by a rented bull called Break-Heart Maestro;. the pigs are making piglets; and the goats have turned out to be psychopaths.

That is right – it is time for another riotous trip to Diddly Squat Farm with farmer-in-progress Jeremy Clarkson.” Because while he’s mastered the art of moaning about nearly everything, some of the other attributes required of a successful farmer prove more of a challenge. Who knew, for instance, that loading a grain trailer was more demanding than flying an Apache gunship? That cows were more dangerous than motor-racing? Or that it would have been easier to get planning permission build a nuclear power station than to turn an old barn into a farm restaurant?Since then, he has written for the Sun, the Sunday Times, the Rochdale Observer, the Wolverhampton Express & Star, all the Associated Kent Newspapers and Lincolnshire Life.

This was to be the third title in ‘The World According to Clarkson’ collection of books, as it would provide further insight into his mindset and how he thinks as a person. Preceded by ‘The World According to Clarkson’ followed by ‘And Another Thing’, these titles would help make his name as a populist writer of non-fiction. With over six titles in the series overall, this has probably been his most successful franchise in the publishing world, with a collection of omnibus editions too. Bringing his perspective to the forefront once again, it manages to incorporate his now trademark sense-of-humor and insight into his work once again.According to the book summary, readers can expect to be regaled with more outlandish schemes from Diddly Squat Farm – the sheep are gone, to be replaced with pigs and ‘psychopathic’ goats – while the cows have been joined by a bull named Break-Heart Maestro.

Life on Clarkson’s Farm may not always go according to plan. There may not always be one. But there’s not a day goes by when Jeremy can’t say ‘I’ve done a thing’ and mean it …And fortunately there started to be people who would say, “Hang on a second, what if everybody gets horribly killed?” Health and safety has saved a lot of people from serious injury.’
